and the $340 is usually for the whole assy.

Default Otherway around. 2.8's have coil packs (a pack of ignition coils). 1.8T, the rest have individual

ignition coils. CoilPack originated from the packed coils found in a VR6 setup.

$340 was probably to replace all 6 (yes there are six individual secondary coils, 3 primaries on a 2.8 coil pack for someone that understands transformers)
