Default 2.8 Ported Throttle Body and Intake Manifold

Ok

If I put a ported throttle body in, and a ported intake manifold and a supersprint Magnum exhaust, how much horse power will I gain??

Any Ideas

I'm at 174Hp now.

What about a drop in K&N Air Filter Compared to a Cold Air Intake. Where can I find one at a god price.

Is it worth it to do these mods?

My friend says all that just cost too much for the amount of performance you gain.

Ported Throttle Body - 200
Ported Intake Manifold - 250
Supersprint - 500
K&N Drop in Air Filter - $50
K&N Cold Air Intake - ???

I have a '96 A4 2.8 12V

Default 15 hp on a good day per the advice I've been given

throttle body and intake manifold require more mods around them to work well....although with the exhaust, thats where you'll get most of your 15hp.

Welcome to the ongoing air filter debate.....cold air cone doesn't work well in the A4, engine ba is too hot. Some guys here have worked in some heat insulation to enclose them and make them work better....expensive and a lot of work, for a few more horses and a cool sound over just getting a drop in.

I have a K&N drop in, it does make a difference, I don't care what the dyno reads. Better throttle response at least.

Default If you're looking for a SuperSprint I can make ya a great deal...

on an S4 for the 2.8. I'll be honest in that it needs someone willing to do some good welding as I had to cut it and weld ita few times for reasons I'm still trying to figure out. Anyway, i got fed up with it and bought a new one so If your interested in a project e-mail me. It's definiately useable and I'll let it go for a ridiculous #.

Hey - I thought you said it fit! So you *did* have the same trouble I did, huh?

Default It fit perfect...it was a series of errors that led to it's current state...

when it was first installed it was tack welded at all seems for some retarded reason. This was fine until I needed to replace my cltuch, at which point things got much worse. I needed to be able to remove it to get at the trans so it was cut and a gasket was installed. Sadly it was not cut in the right place so we had to cut again, fiting it with new sleeves to reattach it to the cats. Well...it's leaking now form the gasket and the gasket sits low enought that it hits my driveway every day. I could have the welds redone and be fine, but I'm just sick of dealing with it. PES is shipping me a new exhaust today and I'll part with this one for VERY cheap if anyone is interested in a project.

I agree with you on the K & N...though it's marginal at best.

Very difficult fit if he is FWD. Better to go custom or supersprint

Default gotta disagree with you on one point......

a cone intake doesn't work well on a 1.8, but it certainly works on a 2.8....a 2.8 is not as hot in the engine bay, and it doesn't have a piping hot turbo right underneath the cone the way the 1.8 does.
