I have a 97 1.8tqm, and have never driven a chipped car. I'm getting in on the APR group purchase. Right now, I hate how quickly I have to shift through 1st and 2nd gear. [1st gear is worthless] Will the 1.0 bar chip eliminate the need to do this?

Also, whenever I first turn on the defroster, I get a burning smell in the car. Anyone know what this is or how to fix it?

Nope, that's a function of the gearing in the transmission and differential. Changing the chip won't help this.
