2001 1.8T Gas Filler Neck
I have just purchased my first Audi. Love the car, but I can't seem to put gas in it. The auto shutoff on the pump nozzle kicks off every 2 or 3 tenths of a gallon. I tried repositioning the nozzle to every angle I could. I even tried a couple different gas stations with the same result. Anyone else had this problem with their A4?

Maybe once or twice...
...but not to the extent that you're saying. I found that it helps to back the nozzle out of the filler neck 'bout an inch or two and try again. I can only consistantly re-create your auto shutoff problem if I shove the gas nozzle all the way in and try to fill the tank. Try my suggestion. Hope it works.

It is cause by pressure. If the pump has a flap or the rubber hose over the nozzle
then just pull it back like you would when you fill up a 5 gallon container. I had that problem at one gas station here in CA.

YES! Simple fix.
This frustrated me for seven months. Finally I realized that if I don't push the nozzle all the way into the filler neck, it doesn't happen. All I had to do was pull the nozzle back an inch and a half or so.
