I think that the 00 may have 170 HP- secretly put in already. I asked my dealer and all he said was- observant man in the showroom. Audi may be shipping 170s out without even hyping it??????????????????

Well, obviously both 170 and 150 hp are going to feel a lot slower, so how well can you
quantify it? A stock 99.5 driver who has had his car a year, and knows exactly how it feels
drove my car and found a noticable differance in WOT pull and feel. If you have less you
could always feel more going up the scale. I'm sure a chipped S4 driver wouldn't be able
to tell much differance between your 200 hp and my, ahem, 170.

Hmmmm.....why is the Audi 1.8TS sold as a 170 HP vesion in the US when it's sold as a 180 HP version in Europe ? Is this due to lower octane levels in the US.
There are 3 standard octane levels in Europe: 92, 95 and 98....to my knowledge most people use 95 no matter what car they have. Even Audi recomends octane 95 for the Audi 1.8TS while most European tuning companies recomends octane 98 after chip upgrades.
Btw...the 150 HP and the 180 HP A4 1.8T(S) are both still in production here in Europe.
This years model (April 2000...what you call 2001 ?) is also the last year of production with the current styling. The new Audi A4 will be sold from February 2001.
Cheers
