We're looking at a 2001 A4 for my wife. This would be our first Audi and don't know a whole lot about them.
Its an A4 Quattro with the 2.8 engine, silver/black leather, automatic, 52k miles. Dealer sticker is 20,995 and it will be certified pre-owned. It is a one owner (well really lease) and looks great, drives great too.
I'm looking for some suggestions on things to look for - both potential problems, and options that may or may not be on this vehicle.
Any opinions on price? KBB expected it to retail a bit higher than what the dealer is even asking.
Thanks -
Tom

Kinda high mileage...outta warranty..you can get one right around the same price that's in warranty. In 01 audi changed it to a 4 yr warranty...if it was originally bought late in the 01 model year, it still has a year of warranty left on it, maintenance free. Better to cover you for potential prob's... Plus, you can find one with lower mileage than that.
What options are on the car?

I'm not sure about all the options yet - I'm going back to the dealer this morning to take it for an overnight test drive so I'll find out then. When we looked at it on Sat., it was pretty much fresh off the truck from a lease sale and they didn't have any window sticker on it yet.
I've read that a 3-point steering wheel can be an indicator of sport suspension; I know it has that type of wheel and I hope to confirm that this afternoon. I need to do some more research and find out what options were available. All indications though are that its fully loaded. 16" rims, moonroof, homelink, heated seats, and Quattro are what I noticed on Sat.
I'll also check out the warranty deal and the in service date. I know that they will certify it, so even if there's little to no factory warranty left, I'll get a 2 yr/balance of 100K mile warranty that way.

Well I just got a voicemail from the dealership, they are giving a price of $19490.16.
The 16 cents really cracks me up, don't know why they just don't round it off.
Anyway, the salesman's message mentioned how this was about $1500 off their list price, and that they're at about minimum dealer profit, yada yada yada. The next thing he said was they've had this vehicle for quite a while now, but also said how v6 A4's are hard to come by?
That's a bit confusing - I guess I need to call back and get some clarification. Personally I thought they just got that vehicle in, maybe he just misspoke.
