Default 2001 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro Gas Mileage!

I just bought my car 2 weeks ago, and am very dissapointed with the gas mileage. I drive my car normally, and VERY rarely do I do any "sporty driving." I am getting 13mpg on average! The label says 18mpg in city and 25mpg on freeway! I went through a whole tank by driving only 180miles! Something is wrong! My Mercedes ML320 gets better mileage than this! I took it to the dealer, and they drove it on the freeway (with cruise control), and said they got 23mpg. What must I do? My dad says that I should take it back 4 times within 90 days, and if they can't fix it for me, then I can declare it a lemon? I am new to this, please help!

Other than this problem, I love my audi, great car, it is fully loaded, and was $36k (although I got it for just over $34k)!

Default a possibility

is it a stick? and are you new at it? because when i was learning how to use the manual transmission, i was getting around 15mpg. now, after about 10 months of driving stick, i am getting around 20mpg. I attribute the difference in gas mileage to the fact that i did not really know the release points of the clutch and would end up revving the engine too much or keeping the car in higher gear than it was supposed to be in and flooding the engine with gas.

Default The engine might burn more fuel during the break-in period...

Though in practice the EPA city cycle has little correlation with reality (that's what's reported on your window sticker).

Try a nice long trip on the freeway and see what it gets you.

Default I drive like a maniac, and mostly in the City,i'am still getting arround....

200 something miles....

If i drive on the freeway my gas mileage is excellent!
Compared to my last Car,this one is like a Electro mobile for me!

I used to get like 10 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the freeway with my 300ZX Twin Turbo(highly modified)so i'am really happy with my Audi!

BTW,it's a 96 2.8 FWD

Check thge O2 Sensors!!

Good Luck!

No, it is automatic. I hardly ever use the Multitronic anyway. Any other suggestions?

Can I claim my car as a lemon if I am getting 11-13 instead of 18-25? My friend has a 1.8T and he is getting mileage in the 20s, and he drives like Hokie_Audi! lol Ugh, this sucks...how can it give me worse mileage than a ML320?

HOW in the hell do you get 22mpg? Jesus Christ! do you drive the car in neutral? lol Maybe there is a lot of pollution in Los Angeles? Can that be causing a difference?
