just found out that the mirror i was sent actually has a digital compass built-in, but it's the new style where the upper right hand corner is not blacked out.

so i've ordered:
- 4B0 971 833 (6 pin connector)
- 000 979 018 (wire); order one quantity

and need to get 6 ft of 18 gauge wire.

but it's for a passat and a different mirror. anyone have photos and detailed wiring instructions on how to accomplish this for retrofitting in my 97? [non-auto dimming/no compass]

i'm also missing the felt thingy that's behind the wiring cover. can't seem to find a part#.

just wanted a true retrofit perspective of how to actually put the wires and everything together.

they helped me id that the mirror i have does indeed have a compass. but other than that, not really much more info to accomplish this.
