215 50 16 not 55 and 50 will give you stiffer ride...

Default Always go with 225/50 16s....you won't regret it.

Car will handle so much better, and will look better with the "fatter" tire stance. Did it to my wife's '97 A4, and am so happy.

Default How much will the 'wheel' gap increase with the 225/50

vs. the 205/55?

Thanks!

Default the speedo difference is 0.1%, the speed will read exactly the same.

as for gap, it will be barely noticeable.

Default Here is 1 for example. Fits great. They are hardly any bigger than the 205/55s...

But they make the car handle a little better.

Default you're joking right? 205/55/16 is dang close to the same outer diameter of 225/50/16

and the 225's handle so much better. I hope you were being facetious.

check out this link for how close the outer diameter actually is.<ul><li><a href="http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/tire_diameter.htm">diameter calculator</a></li></ul>

Default BEST SITE for calculations: www.4LO.com >> metric gear calc.

it's what i use every time before buying new tires.
