on the front and rear i measured the tightest clearances
i measured .68 width allowance and 1.38 inch height allowance as a maximum, mainly limited by the rear suspension
so double those numbers cause the tire is mounted in the middle and that gives 1.36 inches wider and 2.76 inches taller than stock overall for a tire to rub (while driving in a straight line that is, i do expect my turning radius to be reduced a bit)
stock is (205/55R16) 24 7/8 tall
235/60R16 is 27 1/8 tall and 1 1/8 wider
so the numbers work
but something doesnt seem right, can this really fit?

i can get 4 used Michelin x-ice tires 235/60R16 with 80-90 percent tread left for $200, its an odd size so no one wants them.
i made 235/75R14 fit on my toyota celica last year with the aid of a grinder and a air hammer in the wheel wells, my audi doesnt deserve the air hammer and grinder.....
so the only down sides are looking like a truck aswell as looking retarded? lol
my celica looked like a monster last year with 10 inches of ground clearance, i'll only be able to get the audi up an extra inch with these tires but it will help.
highways are bad for hitting other peoples wheel well ice chunks, too many got stuck under the audi while i was driving last year, so i mainly played with my monster celica.
this year will be different.......i hope......i just resprayed the undercoating in the spots i damaged last year

This is 215/55, that's what I'd shoot for.

60s offer good prices though. iirc, my 205/60 G-009s were like $80 and were a very good choice. 215/60 is as big as I would attempt.
