Most of Ronal's 17's are 24 lbs. Mille Miglia's too. 26 sounds a bit heavy.

Default Umm yes! That is very heavy!

The BBS RK's that I have are like ~17 pounds (17x8), typical tires are 25 pounds. The lightest wheels in 17" size are around 15-16 pounds.

My 18" Oettinger REs are a few pounds lighter, and they're pretty heavy!

Yeah too heavy. Try to stay at least in the area of 20-22 for 17"s, if not less.

Default Wheels are un-sprung weight. Heavier wheels are not going to make the car slower, but it will

make your susupension work harder for the same result probably having the most effect on ride harshness rather than out right handling. On some applications, (i.e. motorcycles) there is a serious handling benefit to be gained by minimizing un-sprung weight. The upper end machines use magnesium wheels to get the weight down. Obvioulsy the lighter the wheel for your A4 the better but on your car, a coupla pounds is unlikley to make a big difference.

They make you slower too. More rotational mass = more resistance to rotation.
