Default 30V fan clutch bearing is making some noise, has anyone been able to replace just the bearing?

The complete assembly runs $180, seems like a waste given that a $10 bearing unit is all that's needed. Is it something that can be disassembled and put back together?

I'll look into it if nobody else has...

P.S. Does anyone have an old one lying around that I could buy for a nominal fee to experiment on?

Default I don't think the bearing will come out of it without destroying the unit..

I've got one that made horrible noises, and doesn't work as intended..

Default an answer...

No, it's not the clutch itself, but rather the assembly that the clutch is mounted to (includes the bracket and bearing).

I believe the part number is 078 121 235 G

Default Which is why I'm interested in a unit to experiment on ;-)

So you have one that you'd be willing to part with?

Default Oh snap, you're right....

That's even harder looking to get apart.... The Viscous coupling has it's own bearing, which is what I was thinking of, not the pulley bearing. Sorry for the confusion. The bearing for the pulley is blind IIRC, that is, you can't see it no matter how you look at the assembly.

Default a response.....

That bearing should not be too bad to remove and install. The local NAPA store should be able to mic it and have one quickly, if they don't have it in stock.
