They were off a 98 Audi A4. I bought them off a guy. But, I figured just because they were off an audi, didn't mean they are the correct fit. They appear to be ok. The upper cotrol arm is close but doesnt hit (about 3/4" away). The tires are 18" X 8.5 with a 40's series tire.

Ok, thanks.
The reason I was concerned was that, I looked at some 18" S4 rims that had a 45 Series tire on them, they rubbed the control arm which blew out one front tire and trashed the other side tire. Could this have been due to the 45 series tire? I didn't understand why this happened consideering that these were factory rims?

225/45/17 is an OEM tire size on the S4 wheel which would work on an A4 as well. The width of the tire is probably what caused this, not the 45 series sidewall. I'd bet the tire was > 235 wide.

The 45 series just seemed to sit alot higher. Now that I think about it, the tires did appear wider on those stock S4 rims, althoug I never looked, they couldnt have been 225's. I'm glad I passed on them anyway. I bought wheels/tires for $650 that where 3 days old, they still had the stickers on the tires. (the kid blew the engine the day after he bought them). Thanks
