Default 3M Adhesive & Wax Remover -- Debadging

I went to my local Advance Auto Parts store and asked for Goo-Gone, they said they did not have any. I told them about what I was doing and how I was debadging. They recommended 3M Adhesive & Wax Remover. This is my first debadge job on my Brilliant Black 2k1 1.8t. Will this hurt the paint?

Default go to target or walmart and find goo gone.

I'm sure that ahesive & wax remover would be fine but stick with what works on this one.

Default I tried using this exact stuff

It did not work very well at all. I would not recommend even trying it. 2nd try was with Goo-Gone: worked MUCH better.

BTW, the 3M stuff did not damage paint, just stripped off all the wax but didn't get much of the old glue off.

Default I had to use the 3M stuff. Worked for me.

I could not get my hands on goo-gone (I was in a small town). The 3M stuff is what the dealership I borrowed it from said they used. It was freezing outside when I did it and had little problem. I have never used goo gone for this application so I can not compare the two. I do know it is much cheaper.

Default Wal-Mart is evil!

Anybody who shops at Wal-Mart should remember that they discriminate against women and African Americans, constantly passing over qualified minorities in order to promote white males to management positions. Minorities also tend to earn less than their white counterparts, but this is common practice at most, if not all, department stores. One should also note that Wal-Mart forces employees to work overtime, but rarely pays them for overtime. And why is it that many Wal-Marts won't sell you Eminem's new CD (or Sheryl Crow, for Pete's sake!), but if you want handgun ammunition (which, unlike rifle ammunition, has only one purpose: TO KILL HUMAN BEINGS) you can buy all you want? I'll tell you why: They're evil.
Oh yeah, they won't let employees unionize. Some say big deal, but surely the LARGEST PRIVATE EMPLOYER IN THE US could afford to allow their employees a few benefits. Oh wait, that would cut into their profit margin, so forget it.
Some insist that we boycott French products. I say that's too damned hard and too damned pointless. I've been boycotting Wal-Mart for nearly a year. And it's pain free!

Default The deal is it evaporates faster than goo gone. I use 3M adhesive remover all the time for

sticky stuff and best of all tar, eats it up with no scrubbing. I would probably use goo gone for thick stuff like foam tape. Oh and dont spray on the car unless you are covering a large area.

Default here...

as far as the remover i used a (citrus based) sticker remover to loosen it, then used a polishing compound to get the outlines out.. Worked well with my car.. being that my car is a 1998.5 and there is no sign on the old badges

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1663010.phtml</a
