Default 6 disc changer issues

My changer is being dumb. It keeps saying Error 1 when I try and play a cd. Anyone know what Error 1 is?

Default CD ERROR 1 means...

That the disk is scratched or inserted the incorrect dirrection.

Basically meaning it can't read the disk.

I don't thing you'd be putting it in upside down (at least i hope not)

If its under warranty have Audi replace it.

Well the CDs are in right. It will play them fine then it just cuts out and says error 1. It did this before, then suddenly started playing them again. Now it's being stupid again. It's not under warranty anymore. Maybe I just need to clean it.

Default mine did exactly what U described before the changer died.

I now have no working cd-changer, it says 'no cd' everytime I hit 'mode' to goto CD. Before it would work all the time, then about 6 months ago I started having the 'CD ERROR 1', 'CD ERROR 2', etc, and the changer would sometimes work and other times give me that error. I think the laser is the factor on the changer, good luck.

Default My guess...

A read issue. Maybe the laser or something. Try a cleaning. If not. A trip to car-parts.com may be wise. (I got my changer for $100 mint condition)

Good luck!

Default I managed to bring mine back to life after getting that (kinda)

I took the little bastard out and disconnected it, then stood it up instead of it lying flat and then popped the cd magazine in and it magically worked again. Unfortunately, when I remouted it in the stock location, it began to flake out again. I'd bet it has something to do with the laser alignment. Mine will go from playing one track to all of the sudden playing another track on the same CD, if it recognizes the CD at all.

I'm gonna give it one more attempt then I'm looking up which aftermarket one's work...

Well later I was gonna upgrade the whole stereo, but I don't wanna shell out money on that just yet.

Default Re: CD ERROR 1 means...

I've had mine give me that error when it's real hot or real cold in the car. It goes through the magazine about twice giving the error and then stops doing it and starts playing a random CD after that.

I've had the suspicion that the CDs fog up or something and the changer has to heat them all up in order to read them. Cleaning it sounds like a good idea, though.
