Default 6 x 9 seakers - anyone installed in A4 b5??

Hi all

OK so I have a PureAudio H/U in with DVD screen etc. Nothing over fancy but functional and pretty cool. Now i extracted a 600watt American Pro 2ch amp from another car (not Audi) - which is sold - and pulled the 300w Kenwood 6 x 9 rear speakers - unfortunately the cones were brittle - after almost 7 years.

Ok so, today i went and bought ICE 6 x 9 500w speakers. I opened up my boot and i had an idea of where to mount them - right under the metal shelf with the tweeters in the recess that runs across the middle - BUT i will loose high->mid range. I am going to keep the original speakers in for clarity sake and just add the AMP and 6x9's for some extra oomf!

OK, i also found my Pioneer 200w tweeters with crossovers in a box (from 14 years ago LOL) - again, though, i only have the one amp.

So, here's the question(s):

1. Has anyone (i am sure it is yes) added 6x9's on the rear shelf of an A4 b5 sedan? How did you do it?? Should i bother with the Pioneer tweeters? (not really a problem leaving them out). I also don't really want to cut the trim.

2. What would you do in a sedan with: 1 x 600w 2ch amp; 2 x 6x9's and 2 x 200w tweeters.

3. Would i need an uprated battery? or alternator?

4. Why am i doing this? (i have a buddy that does sound comps. He has a 7000w Star sound digital amp - at 2ohm for 2 subs and 5000w for 4 midrange speakers. When he competes he runs it stable at 1ohm and adds batteries to up the voltage to 18v in the car. Needless to say you could get a hernia sitting in there. BUT - i just want a little more bass and volume BUT it MUST sound good.

Any ideas appreciated!!

Thanks all!

If someone has a site/url i can follow to give me some ideas and preferable with pics i would be VERY pleased. I am quite hands-on and able with sufficient tools to do the job.

Thanks again!!!!

Default So many 'BIG NUMBER' specs thrown around.... go for quality over quantity...

Mixing the factory speakers with aftermarket = FTL

Stop lying to yourself and the readers of your post. You want THUMPFACTOR(tm)(r). Otherwise, you wouldn't be talking about 16 gigawatt systems. Nothing wrong with that, but LOUD doesn't necessarily equate with GOOD SOUND.

All of this is very subjective so your best bet is copying an existing system in an identical B5 A4 or taking it to a shop that KNOWS what it's doing. Spend money, good money, and keep it simple.

Ignore my advice and forever roam the audio realm in ignorant bliss - which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Good luck

Default Just hang out next to a high school when school lets out...

You'll probably get arrested for 'suspicion of perversion' but at least you'll hear the THUMP(tm)(r) so that'll make it worthwhile.
