Default 60K service questions...

dealer said it would cost me $550 for it... sure, 'cause the manual lists lots of things that need to be done...

dealer just called to let me know the car was done... i asked, "what's the damage?" and the guy says, "39.13". now, i'm thinking he's pulling my leg.

all they did was change the oil & top off the fluids! is this right?! what about changing the brake fluid? air filter? rotate tires??? what about you guys? i have an '01 1.8T...

Default Re: 60K service questions...

60K should include change tranny/front diff fluid, not sure about brake fluid but I think that should be done every 2 years at the most. All fluids topped off, oil, rear diff fluid? pollen filter, plugs, radiator fluid change.

Default that's what i'm sayin'... except the dealer says that cars 2000 year and older need that...

2001+ requires major service at 80,000 miles...

am i just paranoid or something?

Default My 99.5 has the old-style "Ball & Socket" TB Tensioner

When I pulled the upper TB Cover yesterday, the Tensioner plunger was protruding waaaay out. I was concerned that it would someday pop out of the Tensioner housing.

I was really amusing to see that 105K mi in the Bentley link above.

Anyway, a new TB & Tensioner, Idler Roller, plus all belts (no water pump, since dealer replaced that at 40K mi) are on their way ($195 plus shipping).

1.8T with 61K mi

did you have to tell dealer what to do? or did they just follow what was specified in manual?

Default That's the factory schedule, not Bentley's

They're just reprinting Audi's info. We all know what to do about the TB and when.
