I live in a decent size city (125k+) and our mass trans system is almost non-existent.

Why wouldn't it? And, if public trans leans towards the primary mode of trans, then why wouldn't they stab you for even more money because they can?

It used to be that bike mechanics in China made more than some doctors . It will never happen here to that extent but I can see the bike shop guys making more money now. On another subject I heard the US Gov is looking for engineers and starting pay is about $80k with the ability to telecommute . Got that straight from a military recruiter who announced that at my daughters high school awards ceremony. You wouldn't even have to drive to work ,so why worry about the $8 a gallon.
