Default 8D0201218B, fuel line feed that connects to the "out" end of the fuel filter

is kinked in several spots. I should replace it. The part is $50 locally or ~$40 at 1stvwparts.com . Crazy!
Thinking about rigging up my own -- it's just a plastic line from the banjo bolt fitting down to a rubber hose with a clamp ... BUT! It's a fuel system, and I probably should just bite the bullet and go with the OEM piece ... but still, $50 for a "hose"????

Suggestions?<ul><li><a href="http://www.avtoshop.net/audi.php?mdl=224&amp;bildid=E0A000B5&amp;grp=2&amp ;check=5">It's part #23 on this diagram</a></li></ul>

Default $47.67 LIST on that

I'd get it from 1st VW unless someone else is willing to beat it.

Default Thanks Carson. Any thoughts on me rigging my own line? The fitting is good,

the only caveat I can think of is that a rubber hose won't fit into the channel in the fuel filter housing -- I'd have to pull it from outside of it.

Default No reason why you couldn't rig up some Aeroquip fittings and hose if you want

Personally, unless I needed larger diameter hose for additional flow of fuel, I'd stick with the factory part.

Default I'd also stick with a factory part, or...

buy some fuel line (3/8" IIRC) and bent it accordingly, put your fittings on and flare the ends.

Default Carson, a question: Do I need to drop the tank to change the fuel filter on a B5 A4 Avant?

Dropped by the dealer to have them change the prop shaft seal that weeped all over the ground under my car...

Audi Assured thank you very much...

Asked about swapping the filter and they told me I needed to drop the tank to do it.

I was under the impression it could be done by loosening the band.

Thanks again,

Peter

Default Allow me please :-) I didn't drop the tank, just removed the front strap bolts and loosened the rear

strap ones, only to get more than 1" clearance between the filter strap bolt and the body.

^^^What he said, the tank doesn't have to be completely removed to facilitate filter R/I.
