Default VAGcom scan log

I plugged the VAGcom in yesterday. Here is the log (below).

Is there anything that looks wrong with respect to the problem on hand (no start, no spark, no MIL light)?

Would something be detected (with just ignition on but engine not running) that would help to troubleshoot?

Default Typical suspects: cam, crank sensor?

No spark and car not starting: typical suspects are sensors that (if they fail to communicate properly with the ECU) tell the ECU to 'shut up'.

Even so I did NOT do anything directly at the engine, what can I do to ensure the signal from the cam sensors, cranks sensor and other sensors are 'OK'?

Default Tracing back the 'no spark'

Where should I start trying to (if possible) trace back the 'no spark'?
I started with the plug (no spark).
What to measure/check next. Coil? Where should I measure what?
From there, I thing it goes to this gismo (photo below). What can/should I measure there?

Default Plugged in right?

Just to be sure (I assumed the connectors are 'coded' so they only fit one way): do I have all connectors plugged in right?

Default Transmission sensor - parts - location

In the photo below is one sensor (what is it), a bracket (seems that a wire is coming from underneath) and a hole.
Can someone tell me what they are/are for. Is the hole supposed to be open? what for? does anything go there?

The sensor behind the heat shield measures the flywheel speed by sensing the ring gear teeth movement (but does not reference the crank position). The other sensor mounted in the engine block below the motor mount monitors crankshaft position.

THe leftmost grey colored one is the flywheel speed sensor connection, the next (black) connector is for the crank position sensor. It looks as if both of these sensors are identical and are probably interchangeable (the crank sensor just needs 2 o-rings on it that the flywheel speed sensor does not use.) IF you pull the top off these two connectors you should be able to use a multi-meter to verify that 2 of the 3 pins are connected to eachother with less than 1 ohm reseistance and that those two are both open (completely disconnected) to the third pin wich is the shielding ground.

You mentione a 'flywheel speed sensor'. Where is it located? How does it look like? I certainly would like to check it out. Even so the sensor may and wiring may be ok, it may still not give a signal and the ECU won't allow spark?

The flywheel speed sensor measures speed from each of the ring gear teeth. THe bracket that holds the sensor is adjustable via slots for the mounting bolts.

Flywheel speed sensor is located behind the heatshield on front/left side of transmission. Measure correct continuity for it at the grey firewall connector (next to the black crank position reference sensor).

I checked the crank sensor, which on the SOHC sits forward, on the engine block. The hole in the picture, on the trans, seem to be reserved for the DOHC crank, right?

The resistance value for the crank was 0.985 kOhm (center to one of the outer pins), so within the specified range of 0.675-1.112k. I will check the flywheel speed sensor. Does anyone know the value? And how is it called in Audi lingo?

Which is the "Engine Speed Sensor", which is the "Crankshaft Position Sensor".

And while we are at it, lets label all 4 for reference.
From driver side to passenger side, the connectors are:

grey/flywheel speed sensor
black/crank position reference sensor
grey ????
blue ????

Default Flywheel sensor

How are the sensors 'officially' called?
I found (for example rock auto):
- crank shaft position sensor
- cam shaft position sensor

Not found: flywheel speed sensor

In Haynes, they talk about Engine Speed Sensor.

Default Anti Theft cut spark, no MIL ??

Still desperately troubleshooting the crank but no spark, no MIL issue.
Since I had disconnected the battery for several weeks, is it possible that an Anti Theft can do that?
Does a 1996 A4 2.8 quattro auto AFC have Anti Theft?
Could any fuses cause the crank but no spark, no MIL (when ignition on) condition?

I have checked crank position and cam sensor, several grounds, looked for pinched (during trans install) wires.
