Default 97 2.8 12V versus 98 2.8 30V

Hi all,

A cop T-boned my pregnant spouse and totaled my 97 A4 Quattro 2.8 12V sedan. We found a 98 A4 Quattro 2.8 30 Wagon we want to buy. My questions are:

What are common between the two?

Are the transmissions the same? I did some research, and it appears that the clutches are not the same. Anyone know if they can be swapped with one another?

Can all the interior panels, seats, trim be swapped between the two? We like the old cars interior much more than the new one.

Obviously, the engines are different, but are the alternators, PS pump, and AC compressor also different?

All suspension is the same, from what I gather.

Any suggestions about what I should beware of with the 30V motor??

Many thanks in advance. I don't post often, so please be kind.

IMHO, the 30v is a light year ahead of the 12v. However, I doubt that you will find much on the 12v engine that can be swapped to the 30v. Outside the engine you will find tons of things that can be swapped from the 12v to the 30v.

I gather that. I'm not concerned about swapping any engine bits, aside from those three. I'm actually pretty excited to get my hands on the 30V. I'm not a fan of V-motors at all, but this one is much better than the 12V. If I have to have one of them (it's her car), I'd rather the 30V.

Any thoughts on the other questions? Interior? Tranny?

as 4driver said I don't think much of anything is exchangeable from the engine or trany, or at least nothing that you would likely need, but everything else from the body, interior and suspension should swap.
if you are keeping stuff, grab the lower door mouldings, for some reason every A4 I have owned has lost one at some point!!
