Default 97 2.8 sohc, no spark

newbie here. Need some help. I drove my car home from work and it was running fine. I went out the next morning to go to work and the car will not start. It has always started great. I am not getting any spark at the spark plugs. Any ideas?

Pull codes, post codes.
Probably a cam position sensor.

my Chiltons manual shows diagrams for the dohc, not the sohc. Would the sensor be in the same area?

Buy / borrow a code reader. Code readers can be had for under $50.

Don't throw parts at it, it never ends well. There are several sensors on the car that can cause this.

Read the code.

Also the brown colored ignition "control module" really just an amplifier, they can cause a no spark condition. Its located on the fire wall towards the passenger side. As can cam sensor on drivers rear head.

Assuming that the timing belt has not failed in some way, start by replacing the cam position sensor (back of the left head)

Cam sensor came today, installed it, old one wasn't in the best of shape, the plastic for the wiring harness was broken. Anyway, back to square one, still no spark. Waiting for the crank sensor now.
