97 A4 Remote Keyless Entry (Switchblade) Lets clear up the rumors.
I've read different things in the forum, some people say that this can't be done. Others say that 97 and on models all are wired for keyless entry. I've also heard that the remote and key (switchblade) can be ordered off clair parts. Some people say the remote can be programmed with one key in the car started while you lock the door with the remote. Other say it has to go into the dealer. Could someone please help, I'm confused.

u need 2 remotes to program and a key (only the key) in the ignition...more.....
the dealer just reprogramed mine today (it's a 98..but i doubt there's a difference) you could seperate the key from the remote and stick the key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position, then u need to turn the un programed key in the door and press the "unlock" and "lock" buttons (read the tech sheet) so right hand has the new remote in the car door, left hand has the second pre programed remote. you CANNOT program the with a remote in the ignition, it's a safty/secruity feature.

My car did NOT come with any remotes. More...
I don't have any remotes for my '97. Can I program a brand-new remote with just a regular key (without remote) in the ignition?
