After much soul-searching, and going over my minisule finances for the millionth time, I tentatively decided on purchasing a 97 A4 2.8L 5speed, w/quattro/sunroof/leather. The vehicle is<br>in beautiful shape. I've looked this car over from<br>top to bottom, and there are no dings, scratches, nada. Even the interior is beautiful(black on black). The milage is 49,400, which seems a little<br>high. Asking price was 23,990. I'm trying to negotiate 21,500 and have the dealer pay labor costs on the 60K inspection. This is not a done deal yet, so I wanted to inquire from other 97 A4<br>owners, if there are any problem issues to look out for on this model. The car drives like a charm, and I wish I had the funds for a new A4, but I have to share my wants with three growing kids. Some of you may understand my dilema. Thanks in advance.

My 97 2.8QM has only 36K miles on it...or about 18K per year..I got it on July 5, 1997. I think 21.5K is too low...but that is my opinion. That car listed for about $31-32K when new 3 years ago.<p>Remember, once you go black you usually don't go back (cars that is).
