Hello
so the car is a 98 2.8 avant. Has an exhaust leak, which my mechanic recently told me is coming from the driver-side downpipe which evidently is attached (?) to the cat. Have been driving this way for at least 1000 miles. But today the check engine light came on. Is it safe to assume this is related to this issue and i'm really going to need a new cat? I mean...I really think needing a new cat at this point is almost enough to make me want to get rid of the car.
just did the clutch about 2000 miles ago (lots of $$$ to do one of these). Car has just about 150k. what would you guys do?

just keep driving if the fumes don't bother you....the check engine light is not a big deal....instead of a cat get a testpipe, they are cheaper...just don't expect to pass emissions tests...
