Can I take everything console wise from a 99.5-2001 and put it into my 98? Thanks!

yes you can, just that you have to make sure the new one is not CAN-bus (2000+ ones are). Also on some you have to do some rewiring. There was a guide somewhere i cant find it now ...

If this is a US car there is no Can-bus. Can-bus was never in a US B5. B6 only.

IMHO a hell of a lot of work for nothing . If the OP has a 2.8 they will have a mismatch on the wood trim also so the door cards would need to be changed.

The usual reason for this is they want an Audi Symphony stereo with a CD, a lot of work for not much of a stereo.

oh didnt know that. I found European B5s with CAN starting around mid 2000 atleast. Well then you can use any of them
