98 A4 1.8t misfire cyl 2, coil is good ????
my buddy has a super clean 98 A4 1.8t 5spd, with only 76k miles. I just changed out his control arms and took it for a drive down the street and back. when I got back to move the car it started misfiring on cyl2? I assumed bad coil but still nothing. no spark.. the coil has power and ground but it isn't getting signal to spark. all other coils the first wire in the 3 wire plug pulses, on cyl 2 it just gets constant power?
I have never come across this any ideas? I swapped ECU's also with no change and the wire harness looks very good in the normal wear spots.
no other codes in the car except misfire in cyl 2.

Mine is doing the same thing. THats why I am here.
My number three. The car drives fine for awhile, then #3 starts missing. I bought a new coil pack and it didnt change. I am thinking it could be the ICM or the crank position sensor?
Anyone here can verify?

that is what I am thinking but common sense tells me that I should be getting random misfire, not specific to 1 cyl. but hopefully someone will chime in. otherwise Tuesday i will swap out the icm and speed sensor.
I am leting the car cool over night and see if it is doing the same thing in the Am, if so I will be leaning towards the engine speed sensor

ok...
also can you come back here and post what the results were?
I dont mind replacing the parts on my car, I just like to know where the best place is to buy them.
Advance wants $167 (i think) for an ICM...takes 3-4 days to get here.
