Default 98 AEB- where is the MAP sensor (G71) ?? AKA Bar Pressure Sensor

...is it in the ECU box, i dont recall it being there last time I had the ECU out.
Reason: 16491 DTC.
Bentleys page 24-131 is useless.

Default I don't think the AEBs have a MAP sensor. There is a Barometric pressure sensor (F96) tho.

That influences boost pressure regulation. What ECU do you have?

Default P box. AWE/GIAC k04 kit - teh reliable!!

...I did notice the VAG sez: (G71/F96) signal too low. And the CEL did fire after the 2nd warm run like it should. Ill check F96...unless, of course, someone beats me to it!!

17951 / 16506 / 16491 / 17593 all 35-10 Intermittant. (bix thx to Mike at chicago GTG for helping with the VAG last nite!!)

Default Did you just 'install' the ECU?

Maybe dbl check that the ECU is fully plugged in (both harnesses) and that you have run a good TBA post checking the plugs. That 'list' reads like a wiring problem more than that the O2 sensor, TB and Baro sensor all decided to crap at once .....

Default That what we were thinkin last night...and you are partly correct.....

I did recently unplug the ECU (to test crank the starter with no belt load on the motor) and Im sure I plugged it in securely, but ill also check again, because xxit happens. I also cleaned out the Throttle Body which hasnt been cleaned for 100K miles!! I also unplugged alot of sensors around that area. That was probably 3-4 weeks ago. Almost too long??
Also, found info in bentley, that sensor is in the same place as the MAP (well, i hope so, it only shows ATW motor code!!)
BTW - Thanks Yips!!!

Default Welcome. The Bentley's must be lying :) .. there is no Baro sensor at the DBW MAP sensor location.

IIRC the BARO sensor is located in the plastic ECU case. Look at Bentley's page 24-2 item number 4:
Electronics box (E-box) with:
Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-
Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor -F96-

Default interesting side note: The Baro sensor "reads" the cabin pressure. At high altitude...

there will be a difference with the windows completely close versus open, if you moving 60+mph.

The ECU box has an open passage to the passenger compartment, but is completely sealed under the hood.

I have a spare Baro sensor, email me if anyone is intested.
