Default 98 VW Passat ECU recode to 97 A4 successful

Just finished swapping back in my original ECU. The recoded Passat ECU goes to APR on Monday to get chipped. Aww Yeah!!

In case anyone is interested the swap was pretty straight forward. The only recoding i needed to do was the engine and central locking system. I just went through all the modules in my original before the swap then changed all the softcoding on the Passat ECU to match. Worked like a charm. In case anyone is wonding my original ECU # was 8D0907558M and the Passat ECU is # 8D0907557P.

As for the removal and installation of the ECU, i don't know what all the fuss about the "illusive" 5th screw is about, I just loosened the lower windshield plastic cover and used a deep socket....it came right out.

lol just glancing at the titles of both posts, I thought your post was gonna be sarcastic.. 'I own this tool called a 'screw driver' was laughing before I even opened it. then realized what you actually typed..

I've always heard most/all nDBW ECUs are compatible (VW or Audi).
