Default 99.5 1.8T Owners Manual and Temp Light Question

Is there somewhere online to get a pdf of the owners manual?

My Temp gauge does not work. Does the Temp warning light mean different things, when it blinks, beeps, remains on steady?

Rule of thumb - orange you have a warning / red you have a catastrophic failure.

I believe catastrophic failure is accompanied by 3 beeps and is more properly referred to as "Priority 1 Fault."

It sounds like you should replace your coolant temp switch - it is extremely easy and extremely not costly. Then go from there. It would be better than guessing wildly at the problem.

Click here for a new coolant temp sensor - responsible for sending signal to your dash.

Thanks for the reply.
When i first got the car it was cold winter time. The temp gauge worked but took a long time to get to "normal" reading. A couple months later it just stopped working. I did replace the temp sensor, still nothing.
So after awhile the car is now leaking coolant really bad, and the light is going off. Sometimes it just blinks, other times it is accompanied by a beep.
There is a large crack in the coolant flange, and I'm actually on my way out to the garage to tackle it.

A friend mentioned to me, he thought there were different steps to the light. Such as:
on and flashing low coolant.
on and flashing, with a beep, maybe temp a little out of normal range.
on solid with beep, maybe really hot, i.e. dangerous?

OH I see now. If you have a leak and the temp isn't registering fast enough or at all I'd address the thermostat housing, the thermostat and the coolant flange. Neither are terribly pricey and there are DIY's for the procedure as well. If you need a replacement flange or a thermostat we have them available from that link. Good luck!
