Note further down the list that the Passat wagon won best mid-size/large wagon. Evidently two Accord models beat the Passat in the mid-size sedan category - doesn't sound as if the A4/Passat were competing in the same category. Not sure how they can judge the B5 re long-term costs. "Automobile," "CR," (and I) sure disagree re the Accord/Passat issue.

That's OK, but what other cars are actually in the category of 'compact over $15k'? I don't think there's much competition there (the Passat is in the midsize...). Note that the 323 was in the near-luxury category. I would have been more impressed if the A4 won that category. Oh well.<p>Tom<br>1.8TQMS Silver/Ecru

I think somewhere they mentioned they excluded Turbo cars in midsize sedan comparison. So where was Passat GLS?
