Im currently looking to purchase a B5 A4 1.8T sport. I also have a collegue looking to purchase an A3 1.8T sport.

I was wondering if anyone on the board has experience of both cars and could give some comparisons on performance, ride and handling. The obvious differences over the A4 and A3 is interior space, but if anyone has any other comments, please let me know.

the B5 is the larger platform.... the A4 platform AKA TT,Bug,Golf,Bora/jetta,A3 are all decent cars but we dont get the A3.

I had an A3 1.8 Sport (non turbo) for a few months as company car, was impressed with car in general, although very disspointed with Interior space. Golf seems to offer far more interior space, on same platform. At 6ft2" my hands on steering wheel hit my knees, and the rear was so useless that not only could you barely get any passengers in ther back my 2 year old daughter in her car seat had no room for her legs.

Hence Im going for the A4.

Also ran a 99 Passat 1.8T for a year, fantastic car, great looking but lacks the sporty look and prestige name of the A4.
