Default A4 1.8T water pump impeller

On the Audi A4 1.8T, 1997-B5 , model year is the impeller on the water pump plastic or metal , as there is no water movement in the engine, although it could be the thermostat as well. ?

Yes, could be either. They used both types, if your car is over 65,000 miles it could be original or have been replaced when the timing belt was done.

Supposedly they have improved the plastic pump reliability with newer materials and now it might ot be possible to buy a metal pump.
