Default I should hope its more rigid

it has 2 fewer doors and was intended to be a sports car. Convincing a B5 its a sports car takes some doing.

Default um yeah...

its a work in progress but the sedan is no longer driven except to test or to go to a track event/ autocross. Thats as much of a track only car as I can afford right now. Its still "street legal" too.

Default subjective

for me its a weekend toy car that I can have out of working order for more that 50% of the year. A toy that I own explictly for the purpose of tracking and or autocross competition. It only has to be reliable and comfortable enough to get me to the event and back home in relative safety. There are several reasons for this. 1. to avoid wear/damage to toy. 2. to avoid wear/damage to myself from driving toy. 3. I am under much less stress to get things working in a hurry and I am able to spend more time on details and making things right.

IF and when I can afford a truck/trailer I will do so in order to aleviate whatever my current toy is from the duties of driving to/from events. At that point I no longer need to meet emissions. I also gain the benefits of having an alternate means of transportation at the track should I break or wreck.

Default you may have a car that is designated for track only, but it's no track car.

There are probably less than 10 people that post here (or did) that can say they're building/built an A4 as a track/DE type car. Your name doesn't come up in that list, imo, unless you've gutted it and put in a cage that you haven't posted about.

And, that list is getting smaller with people like Liam selling their A4s.

Default I'm not that far along yet.

I have a long ways to go before I gut and cage the car. There is a good chance I'll do that at some point in time, I doubt it will be in the next year tho. I dont think my level of skill warrants that yet, when I reach the next (red) run group I'll think about gutting the car a bit more. Till then I think my time and $$$ is best spent elsewhere like on improving my skills and becoming more familiar with the tracks in this region. I'm just getting into this hobby and having my sedan reserved for track use is a nice luxury that makes me feel much more comfortable taking the car to a road course because I'm not fecked mobility wise or financially if I wad it up.

Default here's the cage that I'm looking at:

but I need my back seat for at least a year. so, I may have a custom single loop with harness bar installed instead. Then, add the rest later.
