then after getting one year older (now 28), 3 speeding tickets, $12K in collision insurance claims, moving to Chicago, and upgrading to an S4 all within a year, my premium only went up to $920 per 6 months despite insurance supposedly being slightly higher in chicago.
I consider myself lucky.

As to the 'choice' mentioned by boki, well it is not so simple, is it? The GF will never live anywhere but NJ (her whole family is here) and I've lived here for almost my whole life...I love it here, it's just getting way overcrowded.
Not to mention the fact that I see about 16 billion A4's every day. When I was on assignment in Louisville, I saw 2 A4's in the entire 10 months I was there!
Anyway, many insurance companies will not even insure NJ drivers...I have to sit through umpteen million Geico commercials every day, targeted in my area, yet they don't insure in NJ. WTF is up with that?
Oh, did I mention that I might have a couple of points on my license from several years ago (back in my crazy youth)?

I'm 30, and I'm looking into moving to Princton from PA (where I pay $900 a year). Premiums in NJ would run me $2000 a year...that's the price you pay for living in NJ. Now, even if I moved to Newark or Camden, my insurance rates wouldn't be as high as yours. What did you do?
