as long as you don't go around feigning and telling people it's an S4, then there shouldn't really be an issue. It's your character not the car that matters.
I've seen one A4 modded up like an S4. Never really thought much about it. More curious if the guy really tells others what he's really driving.

meaning badges and avus wheels, he'll have an S4 body. The only way to figure it out from that point on would be to look at the brake calipers and then into the fender lining. If that's done, then it's the anodized window trim. If this is accomplished, the....
S4 does have one little trick item which is S4 only. Exhaust. Get underneath and you'll see two exhaust pipes coming out from each bank of turbos. Dead giveaway except who's gonna get on their knees?
Interior? Maybe difficult to get S4 logo'd gauge but not impossible. 6 speed shift **** can be replaced with aftermarket. Nappa leather... well, only an S4 owner could tell... if the door is open to be able to touch it (sport seat design b/w A4 and S4 are the same). Door trim is easy as well as the S4 logo steering wheel.
Superficially, it can be done. Just depends on how much you want to replicate an S4. However, to do it all correctly, it would cost way too much $$$... at which point, the cost of the upgrade would be equal to the cost of an S4 minus an A4 which he's already paid for.
Of course, to go all the way, the paint must either be nogaro or imola. Then, I'd say an S4 owner wouldn't know the difference unless of course, kneeling is that important to find out.

If you really want to buy something for your car, may I suggest driving lessons? Real driving school, done at a race track. I bet if you post where you live, you'll get several suggestions for a good driving school in your area.

I have a 98.5 A4 and i just got done upgrading my car to an S4. i have the S4 front with avant sides and the euro rear bumper. car looks 100% sharper and better.
cost of total upgrades was roughly 1200 with paint and install. you won't need any special parts to convert every thing is a bolt on. if you have the washer jets you might need to buy the front bump brackets but if you don't every thing bolts up.
AS4 next on the project is the ABT 285HP upgrade.
