To A4 owners that have installed the Avic-D3 in a pre-2000..
does the climate control plug and play and was the install of the indash pretty straight forward after installing the 2000 center console?... getting ready to redo the stereo in my car and decided i dont feel like working with the concert headunit... D3 is the best lookin option so i went with it... thanks alot guys

I just finished mine. (almost)...
Climate control is plug and play, but there are 2 things that don't work: rear defrost and buttons illumination. Hazard switch is also different, but you just swap your old one. The red triangle thing goes right in your old switch.
Installing Avic D3 wasn't that easy, but it wasn't hard either. There is a little write-up in tech section from Driveslikegranny, but I went a little diff way. If you're good in doing custom work, you'll be all right. If you want to see my install, I can post some pictures later on. There is none of during the install, only "now" pics.

yuup its the 99.5.... im a lil upset about the HVAC... i think i might make a cover outta the
old one... are you installing 5.25' speakers?.. not being able to seal the speaker to the hole take away from the quality of the sound?
