A4 selling advice needed
Amarilloans don't know that Audi still makes cars, hell, if it ain't a truck it ain't a car, so I am not having luck here in Amarillo selling this car. Independent Systems has an ad of it spread all over the internet but no one has called. I've had 8 contacts so far, one from a doctor here in town and SEVEN from Audiworld but so far none have been serious.
Anyone have any ideas how else I might market my car? At $22,000 it is very fairly priced for its year and mileage (24,000). I have only been trying for 3 weeks so it may be a little premature of me to think it won't sell, but I'm open to any suggestions any of you might have to help me escort it to another person's garage.
Did any of you sell an A4? Did it take a while? I am not in any financial pain but I want to put more money into my home's equity.
I would appreciate any advice
Thanks

Re: Edmund "TMV" isn't helping us.....(long)
Everybody looking for cars on the internet is using at least one if not all of the 3 major used car evaluators.(Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, and N.A.D.A.)As buyers they of course will use the one with the lowest numbers as their reference point, which is the re-vamped Edmund's "TMV". For whatever reason Edmunds clobbers the A4, especially on their mileage deductions. I did a little test to prove to myself that their A4 market values were skewed. I ran 3 similarly priced 1999 models(BMW 323i, Lexus ES300 and an A4) with the same mileage (28,500)Did not include options, just wanted to compare mileage deductions. The result was the BMW and Lexus only deducted $140.00 and the A4 was nailed for $1158.00! The glaring question is - Why? Shouldn't mileage deductions be consistent between similarly priced models? Anyway, this may have a lot to do with your A4 selling woes. I can sympathize, I just sold my 1999 A4 1.8T here in the SF Bay area the other day after trying for nearly a month. I started out at $22,000, sold it for $20,500. Very few serious offers during that stretch of time. Several people mentioned that it was overpriced according to Edmunds. I would tell them that I believed Edmunds to be innacurate but they just don't want to hear it. BTW, I also e-mailed Edmunds and they relplied that they are looking into it. I saw your ad in the AW classified, and by all accounts you should be able to sell it at or near that price, but timing and location account for a lot. This time of year isn't the best and you're right - Amarillo is not an Audi hotbed. Good luck!
