If you consider yourself even a minor audiophile, you'll rip it out in a month. When I first heard it at the dealer, it sounded "OK", but I could NOT stand it after a few weeks.
I kept the deck and changer since I wanted to keep the stock look. The speakers/amp are the biggest culprit. They are awful.
I have friends getting A4/S4's in the future, and I always tell them to pass up the $1100 (!!!) on the stereo upgrade.

I have inquired and it seems that you can hook up your own amp through RCA outputs in the back of the deck. This person I asked used an Eclipse. He then ran the power from the new amp to all the speakers which made them sound much better. I would also think to add a sub, since I do not have the Bose and the stock unit lacks dearly in sub "punch". The amp should cure this, but I do a lot of open window/roof motoring and need the extra omph!

The Bose "upgrade" is worth maybe $150. You can get much much much much much much much better quality spending the $650 to upgrade amps/speakers at your local car hifi shop. The changer is nice I guess, but look around apparently there is an adapter that allows you to hook up a Panasonic CD changer. I wish they had an adapter for a SONY MiniDisc changer.<p>Philbiker

Skip it. on the 2000 basically you only get slightly better speakers.
