I recently lost a switchblade key for my 98 A4. I purchased a replacement through ebay and also had a mechanical key cut at a local locksmith. Then, following instructions included elsewhere in AudiWorld, I reprogrammed the remote on the switchblade. So far, so good. I then performed a bit of surgery and mounted the blade portion of the mechincal key onto the switchblade remote. The key portion operates all the external door locks without problem, but will not turn the ignition lock -- it's not that the car won't start, the key physically will not turn from the starting position. Any ideas?

IDK but you can purchase the switchblade blank, sans remote at the dealer

I think it is around 60 bucks for just the key part
