Default My 1.8TQ ALWAYS bunched up on tight turns....kinda scared me!!

Being lowered 1.5" made it a great snow plow in the winter though!!

Will's A4 page

Default Perhaps the GC wins, but it'd have to snow 183 days/yr. before I'd consider it.

There are other reasons to choose a GC, of course, but, I'd pick the Audi for the non-snow days I wouldn't want to be stuck in a truck.

Default Much lit. says 100%, but ASHA web site indicates 90%. Regardless, it is a high %.

Default I think...

...the A4 is going to be much more stable on ice and compact snow, and is just as good or better than the Jeep for plowed roads. Where the Jeep gains is with ground clearance and big tires. If you're doing deep snow in uncharted territory, there is no substitute for a Jeep, but if you want a stable highway ride, the A4 quattro is as good as it gets.

FWIW, my '89, 90Q could blow away a friend's '94? Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited on compact snow and ice, even without snow tires. With a little practice, it is also very easy to learn how to turn with the throttle and maneuver the car very well. It is very important not to get cocky with the throttle though, because quattro will rocket you forward and turn well, but stopping is same as any two wheel drive car. Same goes for the Jeep. HTH! :-)

Default Nope

My Auto trans 96 Outback was clearly 90 front/10 rear. You could tell. My 98 Sube RS is clearly 50/50, which I much prefer. Out A4 Quattro is pretty fun too. )

Default Indeed, quattro does shudder a little in slow, tight turns. Both...

...the A4 quattro and the JGC are the best in their respective classes. Just depends on what you want to do and where you want to go. Different strokes for different folks! :-)
