a stock 170 hp 2001 a4 will be a very close race...
off the launch u have the gsr, after the end of second gear he would maybe not have caught u, but you definatly wont be walking away for him anymore.

Most the stats I've seen claim 14.8 1/4 miles on a hard launch.
Which would put them even with or slightly faster than you.
Also "when you put an exhaust on an NA type r - it actually looses power, and two of the type r's i raced had exhausts." Would this indicate that they did not know what they were doing? I think so.
I totally agree with you that the top end on TypeRs sucks. But, personally, I've only broken 110 twice in my A4 and never when racing so it doesn't mean an awful lot to me.

Your wrong there. Intake and exhaust on a B18C or B16 motor will make power all the way up to
redline. I have a B16a motor in my honda with headers intake exhaust and vtech controller and I was running low 14s. When I put in cams my car was deep into the 13s. The guy you were racing doesnt know how to drive and probably his car was not time right.
