Default A4nicate - just read the trade-up deal you got on your S4...

...and I pretty much soiled myself because I tried to do the same thing earlier this week. The dealer who I initially purchased from offered me $25.5 on the car that I paid $35.5 (invoice) for six months earlier! I just turned 9K miles on the car and its in perfect condition.

I'm beginning to think that revealing what I owed was part of my mistake. They also might have caught on to the fact that I only paid invoice for the car, but who knows.

$10K was way too much to lose on my car, so I scratched that idea completely.

How many miles did you have, and what did you pay for your car?

Never tell 'em what you owe, or how much monthly payment you want.

Default I have renewed hope now and will hit DonMcGill Audi tomorrow. Funny thing is that we didnt talk S4

...price or payment at all - because the foundation of the deal was my trade in value. That was a bust, so the whole thing went down the tubes!

I went in there with the mind set that a $5K loss would be acceptable, coupled with a good deal on the S4.

I test drove a used red S4 at Park Place a few weeks ago, around $34k.

I did that once and the guy got so mad he threw the keys to my trade in at me.

Default I have 13,500 miles on it. I paid $34,000 (sticker was $35,500.)

I bought the A4 from a different dealer, if that matters. I'd say they're trying to screw you--look for another dealer. I talked to another dealer in my area and they offered me $30,000 in trade and a $1000 discount.

Default Went over last night, and had everything set to make the trade...

...but regained my senses this morning. McGill offered me $28 on my trade in and $2000 off a S4 with Premium and Bose. The S4 price is decent, but nothing spectacular ... and loosing $7,500 on my trade seems excessive to me. Couple that with the additional $2k in interest I'd wind up paying and the extra 18 months of a $800 car payment, and it just doesnt make much sense.

The interesting thing is that McGill treated me much better than the dealship that I initially purchased from. All my service and future business is going to McGill (or Advantage if the buyout goes through!?)
