Default A6 2.8 looking for help from any A4 2.8 owners

Hi,
I am hoping someone can clue me in on a problem I'm having. I recently bought a 99 A6 2.8Q(with 50K miles), the battery died(had the original), it would not take a charge form roadside assistance, so I replaced it with another battery(has the vent,). Now the car will start imediately, idles perfect, but then stalls when I put it in gear if I don't give it any gas. It drives perfect as long as I'm giving it gas. It has new plugs(OEM), new oil(Mobile 1) and filter(OEM), and there is gas(use 93octane) in the tank. I checked the grounds and cleaned all the contacts. The car sat for a week with no battery, could this be a problem? I checked the voltage on the battery and the alternator everything is within normal limits(engine off=12.05volts, engine on= 14.1v). Does the car have a IAC or ISV, which might need cleaning? I searched the archives and found that another member had a similar problem after replacing the battery and stated that the Fuel system had to relearn its settings, is this the case?
Any help will be appreciated? And the check engine light isn't on.
If you are in the NOVA/MD/DC area which mechanic do you use?

Default Yes it does have an ISV, and that could be it.

turn on the engine, let it idle, and then turn on/off the air conditioning compressor. idle should change, but not too dramatically.

I assume this is an automatic transmission?

The throttle angle on the throttle body must be reset whenever the battery is disconnected for more than half an hour. You'll need to see an Audi tech or have someone with a VAGcom and ALOT of experience to do it

Default Thanks Quattrorage! But a few more ?????

Is this a difficult procedure, or it just needs expertise to adjust? Do you know how much labor is involved? Thanks, I hope this is the answer.

Default not hard to do at an audi mechanic, just a couple of minutes.

you could use the VAG tool locator to see if anyone close to you would be willing to help

Vag tool locator

Default Some NoVA mechanics

Hopefully, someone with VAG can help, but in case you need mechanics, try Dr John's Motorsport in Sterling or Curry's in Chantilly/Ashburn. Both are pretty knowledgable.

Default What hes saying is that...

It needs a Throttle Body adaption. In the A4, this can be simply done by putting the key in the ignition in the ON (not started)position and let it stand for about 3-5 mins. Im not sure if this aplies to you but its worth a try.

Let us over here know if you need any more help.
