Aargh... window wash jets on A4 get blocked by wiper...
I have a 2000 A4 with the quirk that the driver-side window washer jet gets blocked by the wiper when the wiper is in the "home" position. The service dept at my local dealer says "that's just the way it is," but I cannot believe that someone would design the car this way. It's just plain stupid.
So, if any others have experienced this, how did you go about fixing it?
much appreciated,
-K.

Yup, that's just how it is. :(
I haven't done anything about it, but I would guess you could remove that wind deflector on the wiper. I believe that's what is blocking the jet of water.

I remember someone here said you can reposition the sprayers too...
...I think they said to take a needle to the spray hole and reposition as necessary. You could always try it and see.

People have posted indicating that the center two jets should criss-cross.
This may get around that spoiler. In other words, you have housings, each has two jets. The outside two point to their respective sides of the windshield, and the inner two point to the opposite side of the windshield (even though they all come from the factory pointing to the same side of the windshield). There is Audi documentation to support this, but I haven't tried it.
You can use a needle and insert it into the jets and move them around, but be careful. Audi sells a tool with a needle on one end and a telescoping arm on the other, so you can see where the jet would spray and aim accordingly. I bought this, and found out it only works on pre 2000 cars. With 2000 models and up, the jets are underneath the hood, and there is no room to insert this too (windshield gets in the way). :-(

Has anyone noticed that the spray works better the faster you are going.
The spray is rather annoying when trying to clean your windshield at a red light. However, when travelling at 60+mph the wind/airflow seems to move the liquid further up the windshield and this 'problem' isn't as bad.
It's just my observation, I don't know if this was how it was intended to be. I would like to know from someone that has moved the sprayers .. does liquid stay on the windshield at speed? Or does the wind carry it quickly onto your roof?

There's a tech article on this, they work better when your going faster because....
they are pointed so low from the factory, most likely because them europeans like to fly around the roads, and when your driving fast, you dont want the jet shooting high because it will go right over the windsheifl. It's adjustable as it's a ball and socket assembly.
