About to apply some touch up paint...anyone have any suggestions? (more)

I've done touch-up on light silver metallic.....
First, prepare yourself: it's virtually impossible to do a cosmetically perfect (or even cosmetically very good) touch-up on light silver metallic. It's got something to do with how the metallic flakes fall when they're brushed or "dripped" on (per the carcareonline suggestions - follow their advice about using a toothpick to apply, don't use the touch-up brush) as opposed to sprayed on. You will not get a clean match even using the factory touch-up paint made for your vehicle. The touch-up will appear to be a different shade. But depending on your chips/scratches/dings, it may be still be a lot better than what you're living with now. And if the chips are small, you may get excellent results.
I used Langka. It works as advertised in removing the "blob". But the spot has to be deep enough to hold paint, or Langka will just wipe away everything you've applied. So it works on say a deep scratch or chip, but not an abrasion. I got results on a deep bumper scratch that are better than no fix at all, but you can still see the scratch.
Lastly, if you have a 99.5, you do NOT want the silver touch-up paint that the dealer's paint code book says is for a '99. I believe that's the aluminum silver metallic color. You want the touch-up paint that the book says is for the '00 model, which is light silver metallic. The paint code book doesn't have any "99.5" colors in it. Been there, done that. Good luck!
