Default ABS and Brake light have been coming on and off lately. Heard it could be fluid, sensors, abs unit,
but could it be cracks in hoses? Need someone to run some fault codes, anyone have a VAG in the long island, ny area?

I had the same thing, turned out being the ABS computer. pricey.

they abs computer will run you about 900 at the stealership, your best bet is getting a used one... i think they go for 300 not sure... i got the same problem but im thinking its better that way...abs is kinda annoying...

I was thinking hoses because it feels like the brake pedal is a little softer

maybe you are low on brake fluid. check that reservoir...
