Default Re: Module Masters = $250 BBA Reman Inc = $200.

Does the unit need to be recoded after they do the repair? and can the car be driven with the unit removed?

No recode, and yes. See the FAQ for more info on it.

Default Yes, ModuleMaster will attempt to rebuild a 'russian fix'

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we get modules in all the time that have been subjected to the 'russian fix', and our success rate in getting them to work is pretty high. So we do attempt to rebuild them for you at no extra cost. It may take a an extra day or two though, depending on the damage done ... and if it's beyond even our skill, we'll let you know. So if you have one that didn't survive the 'quick fix' then send it in and we'll take a look.

Also, remember that the 'russian fix' will fail eventually.

Thanks,

Gavin

stop spreading misinformation, the wires are resistance welded originally, solder will not fail!

Default Cannot solder silicon doped aluminum wire.

The aluminum wires are ultrasonically welded using a wedge bonding machine. No spot welding by resistance or heat is involved in the process of attaching the aluminum wires.

The aluminum wires are doped with approximately 1% silicon to allow flexibility.

Solder will make electrical connection to the aluminum wire by mechanical contact only. However it will not bond at the atomic level which is what has to occur for a true electrical connection.
