Default ABS light/Starter

Need help. My car , last week, started flashing the ABS and Brake lights on the warning screen. The ABS is on and the BRAKE flashes. The wierd thing is that the light on occasion go off and do not return until I hit a bump. On occasion they are on, and I feel a slight pumping of the ABS and they go off again.

This morning,..my car barely started, it seemed to be a starter issue because the battery read it was good and it eventually started without a problem.

My car has 90K miles, has been maintained very well,...its a 98. Have you guys encountered a problem like this and if so what was it,..starter,..electrical,..computer????? Any help would be appreciated.

Juan

Default Slow starter usually indicates weak battery. How do you KNOW it was ok?

Just because it shows 12v doesn't mean that it's got enough current on tap to spin the engine..

My car has the ABS/ brake light issue, it comes on after about 30 plus minutes of sustained driving. In my case I believe the problem is with the ABS sensor which is either malfunctioning or not properly connected. In your case I would guess the starter and brake issues are seperate problems.

I feel that they are connected only because the two started at the same time. I should mention that 3 weeks back my head lights went (both at the same time) and I have been using the fogs in their place. (I have yet to go and get the bulbs)

At first the starter issue began with a slow turn over,..the car felt weak,..so I thought it may be a battery problem. I have not checked the battery to see if it has enough juice.

Have you noticed your ABS pump on occasion and the lights go off?

My ABS pumps when Im slowing down to stop and produces a quick grinding sensation, I have no other symptoms of electrical malfunction.

I'm curious if this is a problem with 98's. Out of my ignorance, I thought it was related to the scorching heat we had in Boston just two weeks ago. That's when all of this started for me.

I have been starting and restarting my car,..and I am coming to the conclusion that you are right. When my car sits for a while,....it takes a few times to get it started,...when I shut it off and try again,..it starts without a problem.

Default Sounds like it's just not keeping it's charge very well...

Time for a new one I'm afraid. They are not too expensive, just DON'T go to a dealer for one...
