Default ABS Module rebuild

Anyone know how to rebuild the ABS modules on a B5 A4? I'm seeing it's a common problem, and there are a lot of people rebuilding them for less than $100. I'm quite handy with electronics. Id would be nice if I could save some time and just do it myself. Thanks

The full rundown with pictures is out there, a Russian site I believe. I don't remember all the details, but I believe the weak link is an aluminum wire that is undersized, and fails from excess heat. Mayby you know that soldering aluminum is tricky, plus there is a dielectric gel all over the board. The wire isn't through-hole either, but bonded to a pad. On top of that, you need to moto-tool saw the case open, then reliably bond it back together afterwards. All in all plenty of work for $100, so I had my Passat's done by Module Masters.

Thanks for the info. I hate messing with aluminum wire. It's probably not worth the time it would take to do it myself. I've been in contact with a couple places that do rebuilds. Probably just going to send it off.

I used Module Master a couple years ago --- fast, efficient, easy, inexpensive, and the module works great. http://www.modulemaster.com/en/services/abs.php

Just got mine back from Module Master this morning. Had it back in the car in 20 minutes or so and everything works like new. I would definitely recommend.
